Transcript for "Preparing for the Future with Windows 11": Hello, and everyone and welcome, everyone, to today's live web web webinar, preparing for the future with Windows 11 and the AI for an enriched and re experience. I'm Billy Frank, leading commercial PC marketing in EMEA, and I will be your host today as we explore how to navigate through one of the biggest transitions in work based computing, moving from Windows 10 to Windows 11 while obviously embracing the power of AI and modern AI PCs for smarter, more secure productivity. And we at Lenovo and Microsoft are here to guide you through it. We are therefore thrilled to, to have two expert speakers with us today to guide us through through the whole transition phase. From Microsoft, we have now a Wing Turk senior partner development manager, bringing more than fifteen years of experience in strategic partnership across finance, marketing, and sales. He will help us understand the security landscape and what what the end of support of Winstan means for your organization. And from Lenovo, we are happy to join, Kevin Beck, who is our worldwide senior AIPC solutions manager, a long term industry innovator with over twenty five years of experience and 40 plus patents to his name. Kevin will show us how Lenovo's AIPCs are designed to help businesses like yours to boost performance, productivity, and also digital production. So that's all that that's also how the the the webinar will be split today, where different topics around, with different topics around security, unit 11, AIBCs, and pre experience will be captured. And at the end, we will have, of course, a q and a, a live q and a to go through your hottest questions you might have. Before we get started, let me ask you this before. And the majority says, basically, somewhat confident. We are improving our posture. Some are also very confident, but most of them are somewhat, somewhat confident. So as you see, some mixed feedback, and not everyone is fully confident. We hope within this session now today with the content that we are sharing, you will get even more confident than afterwards to move ahead with the next steps in your transition journey. With that, let me hand over to Niall. So Niall, over to you. Let's go through regarding from Microsoft perspective. Okay. Thank you so much, Widdim. And good afternoon, everyone. My name is Noel Wintrop. I work at Microsoft, and I'm responsible for the partnership between Microsoft and Lenovo in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. And today, I have the pleasure of, addressing a broader audience across, EMEA. So it's a pleasure to be here with you today. And I wanted to start by sharing our Microsoft perspective on on security and how is the security landscape affecting, if you wish, every segment, every organization out there? And why is this so well interconnected between the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11? What are the implications around it? And why do we need to make sure that we're expedite expediting that transition now, and why is that so urgent? And so I wanna start by, first of all, bringing or presenting some findings and then in a summary of our the so called Microsoft Digital Defense report. This is a report that we produce once a year since 2020 in focusing on cybersecurity, and it's focusing explicitly on Microsoft commercial customers across the the world. And this is a an outcome, if you wish, based on 78,000,000,000,000 signals that we get on on on our products from all these commercial customers in the world as well as security signals that we get from a 135,000,000 devices that we manage, indirectly through EntraID and Intune. So it gives us a really good overview across the world on the state of cybersecurity at least for Microsoft customers, but we have a really broad base of customers. And so it paints a really good picture of what's happening and why we need to be looking at in so much detail. So let me just click to the other side to the next slide, and I'll start walking you through, to to some findings in here. In the first slide that I'm I wanna drill down is the fact that, cybersecurity it's cybersecurity attacks are happening across the world. You could see here how our customers are being attacked in in the cyberspace, if you wanna put it that way. And you see the different continents across the world in which countries are being attacked the most. And I think it is not, surprising to see, obviously, The United States, Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan being at the forefront of these attacks because, cyber attacks and cyber criminality, it's, very much also geopolitically driven. And therefore, you could see a spike in this report represent that spike on on cyber attacks. But I think the key point here is that the key takeaway is to make sure to understand that nobody is safe, when it comes to cybersecurity. Every country is exposed in a way or another to cyber criminality, and everyone needs to be taking the right, security measures to be able to be prepared for whatever may happen. And that might take security very serious and we take security as a default in our in our principles. And therefore, it's important to make sure that everyone is of course, cybersecurity keeps evolving, in the way that it's happening. And it's important that everyone understands that no one is exempt from these, threats. The second point is that when, you know, we just looked at the different countries across the world, everyone is exposed, but we also have a pretty safe view or a solid view around the different, segments and sectors that are being attacked. And, again, it's interesting to see IT, education, and research, and governments being at the top of these, let's say, focus areas for cyber criminality and and and cyber attacks. But nonetheless, every segment that our customers are operating in, are also being addressed. So again, no country safe, and no segment or industry is set apart or excluded from these cyberattacks. In Germany, we're recently seeing an a spike in in cyber criminality in kindergartens. And so we're seeing everything from global accounts and global organization enterprises down to kindergartens and everything in between. And so it's it's really interesting to see the breadth and the scope of this, cyber criminality happening across industries and across countries. And the next slide just share some data, quantitative and qualitative data around how this cyber threat looks like by the numbers. And our Microsoft customers are actively attack every day. We actually receive 600,000,000 identity attacks per day, on Microsoft customers across the world. We're seeing four time increases in DDoS attacks across all our commercial customers. And we're also seeing 2.75 times increase in ransomware attacks. Now interestingly enough, in these ransomware attacks, we're also seeing that the rate of successful ransomware has been reducing over time due in fact to the to to the fact that these our commercial customers are taking faster and stronger security posture and increasing their security posture. And therefore, the the positive ransomwares are decreasing. Nonetheless, the overall attack on ransomware is increasing. And more interestingly, we're seeing that it's evolving. So in the past, we used to to see ransomware attacks, happen happening only on cloud assets. And nowadays, we're seeing so the so so called hybrid ransomware attack where there's mix of, both on prem attacks as well as cloud assets attacks from from a ransomware perspective. 90% of all the ransomware attacks that were successfully deployed and and and implemented happened, because a device that was unmanaged in this inside the the network of the organization was identified and used as a leverage to penetrate the organization. So that talks about the importance on endpoint devices in the organization as well as identity. So what are the things we could do about it? One one slide that I that I really like and I think it's a good framework to to address that and that we use often in our customer discussions, also with Lenovo is the the the the NIS two or the network information security directive. If you are someone or your company is based in Europe, You're probably familiar with that, but it's basically the European updated legislation aimed to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of, of the European countries that are member states. And it provides a really, really solid framework around what are the key principles that one needs to look and comply as well as it defines critical infrastructure and essential services that will need to comply to these security measurements. And there's I think we're gonna cover that in the next slide. There's a relatively straightforward way of of addressing and being being compliant to the NIS two requirements and and legal framework, that we can cover relatively straightforward together with Lenovo. And so it defines a set of large, entities as companies that are at least 250 employees of size or that it have an annual turnover of €50,000,000 or a medium sized enterprise with at least 50 employees or a annual turnover of €10,000,000. Now those are not gigantic global organizations, so relatively mid sized companies. But also it's important to understand that not only these companies are affected within the European Union to comply to the network information security directive, but also their suppliers. And their first suppliers, they also need to make sure that they comply so we don't see a disruption in the supply chain as well. And what are the the frameworks? What are the things that one can think about to improve the security posture and make sure that it's fully compliant to the NIS two, legislation? We look at that from from a hierarchy of cybersecurity needs if you wish. Right? And so the first thing is to look at the or at least from our perspective, what are the things that one could do to make sure that they have that your organization has a strong identity security posture. And one of those things could be making sure that, you know, you're leveraging biometrics on your ideally, Lenovo devices, using biometrics or Microsoft Windows Hello, making sure that you're using multifactor authenticator, making sure that you have enter ID to to with the latest security features to to protect your your users and your employees as well from from an identity perspective. The second part of that, cybersecurity need, it's the protect the endpoints. And this is where everything comes together with today's webinar, if you wish, around migrating from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Right? And and for win for, of course, for, protect endpoints, ThinkPads do a great a great deal of of amazing devices that have security features to to help do that. But, of course, Windows 11 provides the latest and greatest security features as well from an operating system perspective. And we're also introducing, Copilot plus PCs, which we're gonna be covering in a later, in a later slide. And in this slide, we're gonna be talking about why Copilot plus PCs are the most secure Windows device where it works to market. And the other thing that one could do could be leveraging Defender for endpoint as well as another great part of Microsoft 365 that covers that endpoint security as well. And then there's the last three part of the hierarchy of cybersecurity. Those could be easily addressed with Microsoft 365. So if you're if you're an organization that, it's already using Microsoft 365 or is thinking about using Microsoft 365, think that Microsoft 365 is not just productivity. It's not Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook, but there's a whole security set of applications defined in there to help your organization be secure from active directory to Defender. There could be an upgrade to EMS or enterprise mobility security suite. And also there are things that, you know, could are more complicated and more sophisticated, but if one could think about, for example, Defender XDR that would cover all those pillars of monitoring and compliancy. And so when we think about or personally, when I think about this this hierarchy of cybersecurity needs, I think it all boils down to the fact that with Microsoft 365 and the enterprise mobility suite plus a sync pack device running Windows 11 or a Copilot plus PC, which we're gonna be covering at a later stage in this presentation, one hits almost 99%, you know, across all those, features, for NIS compliancy and also making sure that your security posture is robust. And so that is a great way of of, you know, making sure that you are you're well prepared for for all these changes in in security and and this landscape, this ever evolving security landscape out there. I think it's poll time just before we move into into I guess. Yeah? Exactly. So let's, let's go for the second question then for today. The second question is, where is your organization currently in the process of migrating to Windows 11? Again, on the left bottom side, you see the box. Please click on that. And then on the top right side, you can then provide us the answer. So we keep it again open for some seconds. Let's see. We have already seven volts in there. Once more than 100. So pretty mixed situation, even more mixed than before. Right? So we see, only a few have completed the migration already, like, 27%. Active immigrating now is around half of the audience, and planning to migrate, is around 22%. So, yes, actively migrating is the majority, but still, you know, many of them are still in the planning phase. Some of them already finished. So, yeah, that's the current situation. We'll get back to you, Narel. Alright. So for those of you that have no plans or that are still considering, I don't have great news for you, because it's gonna get challenging. But it's great that you join and that and that probably, will give you the the impulse and the the motivation to to look into that into more details because it's gonna really help your your company, not only from a security perspective, but also there's new, very interesting things with Copilot plus PCs also that are just, great from from an artificial intelligence perspective as well. So we're gonna cover that. But back to this slide, Windows 10 end of support, is ending 10/15/2025. But besides talking about the end of Windows 10 end of support, I think one needs to think also that it's a an operating system that got released in 2015, a time that was very different not only from from from every angle, but also from a cybersecurity perspective. And what does it mean that it that support ends for Windows 10? Means that, of course, Windows 10, since we released Windows 11, stopped getting any feature updates. So there are no new things happening on Windows 10. It got stuck in time. But now 10/14/2025, we're stopping to provide security, security updates, security patches, and any technical support on Windows 10. That means that you're if if you after October 14, you're still using Windows 10, you are in danger potentially because we're not gonna be actively providing any more security update for for that operating system. And moreover, let's say you say, well, October 1, maybe now it's a great time to change my device. You might not have enough time. So right now, we are looking at almost 85,000,000 devices across EMEA that are non eligible to be upgraded, meaning that they don't hit the minimum requirements to be upgraded to Windows 11. And therefore, no matter what, they most likely, they're gonna need to be purchased new replaced by a new device. And the supply chain, there is no way that can handle such an amount of devices. No matter if you put every OEM in the world out there from now to October, it's impossible to bring to EMEA 85,000,000 devices incremental just to to the run rate that already exist. So they need to make sure that you have a plan in place and that you're speaking with your resellers around setting up the right milestone to migrate on time is extremely important and and time sensitive, I would say. Besides the fact that Windows 10 gets no more security updates, we have this slide that talks about security of Windows 11. And the main difference or one of the main difference that I always like to to discuss around Windows 10 versus Windows 11 is the fact that Windows 10 is and and was and is still a very, very, very good and very good solely security from a security perspective operating system. The difference is that on Windows 10, many of the security features that we were bringing up were not by default, were not turned on directly, and the customer could choose whether they want them or or not. On Windows 11, we're making security a default out of the box and that it's a thing that it makes the operating system a lot more, secure for every commercial company out there. Also for consumers as well, but in the commercial space, even more important. And, of course, there's a lot of new security features coming up, on a on a day on a monthly basis that will keep updating and upgrading and keeping up with this, ever evolving security or cybersecurity threat. So as we, you know, as we look at the at the discussion we just had around, you know, what are your plans to migrate, I think if the first set of actions, to look are try to understand and we met several customers, several Lenovo customers over the last couple of months and face to face even in their in their companies. And we were always starting making sure that there is a clear understanding of the inventory of devices in every organization. How many devices are already running Windows 11? How many devices are running Windows 10? And within that family of Windows 10 devices, how many of those devices are eligible to be upgraded and how many of those are not and will need to be replaced? And for those that will need to be replaced, you absolutely need to have a plan in place with your reseller of your choice or your business partner or even directly with your account manager from Lenovo, to have that transition done smoothly and that you don't run into shortages of hardware that will potentially affect your security posture in the future. So for those devices that are Windows 10 upgrade Windows 11 upgradable, please, I I strongly recommend to make sure that you have a strong plan in place to upgrade those ASAP. And for for those that are not eligible to be upgraded, you know, start discussing with your reseller of choice what what should be the the right motion to, to upgrade to Windows 11, to new new hardware, new devices, and, of course, with new, hardware capabilities as well that will enable new features perhaps for your employees. There is also an extended security update. So I want to touch base on that briefly, the so called ESU. So we do offer ex Windows 10 extended security updates. It is not our recommended way. Let's put it this way to move forward. We obviously make would like to make sure that there is a strong plan in place to migrate. But in case those timelines cannot be met, we are providing an extended security update for Windows 10 that it's paid. One whoever wants to get into that extended security update could buy it as a CSP, service. And it's a three years long contract and it starts in year one with $60 per device per year. Second year, it doubles to a 120 and then it doubles again to $2.40 on the third year. And you cannot opt in and out of different years. So once you commit to that, then you commit it for the three years. So number one is not the the the most elegant way to go around that. It's a last minute resort, I would say, that one could leverage. But it's staying there. So if there are scenarios where that needs to be implemented, that is a safety net if you wanna put it that way, that it's available in there for for customers to to leverage. Applications are always an interesting topic. With most of the customers we meet, most of their applications are compatible to to between Windows 10 and Windows 11. If they unless we're seeing cases where they have really, really, really old, you know, Windows XP or Windows seven applications that may not be compatible. When we're looking at the majority of the enterprise grade organized, applications today, 99% of applications that work on Windows 10 will work on Windows 11. In case there is a case, where that is not happening, then we have a service called FastTrack Azure pro Azure program in where we work with customers to make sure that they transition enterprise critical applications, and we help them in that process, to trans transfer their critical apps, enterprise apps, or enterprise grade apps to from Windows 10 to Windows 11. But the experience we've made so far is that 99% of the applications, commercial applications out there will work that work on Windows 10 will work on Windows 11. So, again, applications, it's a it's a or enterprise grade applications, it's a very important topic, but I think we have a really robust and and solid state there. And as you start thinking about transitioning from Windows 10 to Windows 11, there's one more consideration that I think needs to be kept in in mind and strategically in mind, and it's the so called Copilot plus PCs. Copilot plus PCs are a new class of AI power PCs that are designed for high performance, high efficiency, high security, and AI capabilities looking forward into the future. So Copilot plus PCs, let me just go to the next slide. This one may help understand a little bit better. Let me just zoom in. Here we go. So there's a couple of things, to think about Copilot plus PCs. Number one, they are the most secure, Windows PC we ever brought, to market. These these are devices that not only include a GPU, a CPU, they also have an NPU included on that with 40 plus tops, meaning that they're making this device capable to run AI solutions locally or AI applications. And so making your investment really strategically future proof for the future as we're seeing ISVs bringing enterprise applications with AI features and capabilities that perhaps you wanna run those locally, you can do that now on a Copilot plus PC, and you don't need to leverage AI on the cloud, or cloud power if you wish from a data center to run those, those processes. From a security perspective, these these are secure core PCs that also come included with a Microsoft Pluton chipset, security chipset. So it brings the level of security to the maximum highest level we can we can get a device today. And they are AI ready as we discussed before and NPU power, meaning that they have the new processor unit inside to to do to complement the CPU and the GPU. And, let me just come out of the this view and let me just go to the next slide. So the way we were kind of thinking about AI PCs or Copilot plus PCs, I should call them, is that you get a hybrid experience if you wanna put it this way. Right? So you will get the same benefits and you will have the same experiences through your your CPU and your GPU architecture that you would get on a normal Windows 11 Pro device, ThinkPad from Lenovo. But you can also run, through your NPU, you can start running, AI applications or enterprise applications that have AI features, directly locally from these devices. And so you bring the power of AI to to your local device, to to the edge if you wanna put it this way. And, of course, you can continue to do cloud, cloud, AI or cloud activities or or productivity through Microsoft Copilot or any other AI power, application out there as well as leverage Microsoft 365 Copilot or any of the Microsoft 365, products in place in there. And last but not least, we're also adding Windows runtime, to Copilot plus PCs, to accelerate the development or the cast or custom AI experiences on Copilot plus PCs, making sure that developers can actually code AI applications easier to Copilot plus runtime, Windows Copilot runtime, excuse me, and and increase the amount of ISVs applications out there in the future. So when you're thinking about investing in your set of portfolios from Lenovo and your next devices from Lenovo, Don't default directly to a Windows Pro standard Copilot and standard ThinkPad. Lenovo has a beautiful set of Copilot plus PCs that will make your investments future ready and future proof. We don't have yet hundreds of enterprise applications out there today with AI features and AI capabilities, but we're working very, very closely with I with ISVs. They're developing applications with, AI powered and AI capabilities, and those could be deployed to cloud or in the future locally to the, Copilot plus PC, the NPU on a Copilot plus PC. And that is our our thinking behind that. So you would get the most secure PC and you would get an AI ready PC for the next four, five, six years ahead. And so I think, Kevin, I'm gonna pass it to you or to Willie, and I think you're gonna deep dive a bit more and more precisely or or in more details around the Lenovo portfolio and what what these devices look like and and some of their specific benefits from your side as well. Exactly. Exactly. Thanks a lot, Narel. So thanks for setting the base around all essential, for the insulin transition, including also sharing an overview around copilot plast PC and its benefits. Let's now, as I said, move ahead with Kevin Beck from Lenovo who will connect the dots here, so that you know what you should keep in mind as part of the transition to a modern PC, within this transition journey transition and especially, also around the IPCs and how Lenovo can support you in this overall transition journey around business development. Kevin, over to you. Absolutely. Thank you, Noah. Thank you, Willie. I'm gonna go from the sort of general down to the more specific. I think we have a very clear definition where I'm gonna take you through what our general definition of AI PC is at a broad scale and then get more specific down to the offerings and how that interacts or relates to offerings around Copilot Plus. We have a, I think, a very clear view of a modern AI PC needs to be able to do five general things, use personal intelligent agents based on personal local knowledge bases. As Noel mentioned, a multitude, heterogeneous, a mixed environment of processing around CPUs, NPUs, and GPUs, and, of course, an ecosystem of these AI driven apps that are gonna be able to take advantage of that. And then the privacy and security protection and the reliability and durability that come, with Lenovo hardware, what we are in fact, known for with our products. That's what they are. What do we view as the benefits? They are many, and Noel touched on a lot of them. But we summarize that in, the form of these three words with a p. The personalized aspects of the productivity and the experience with AI PCs doing those things locally, and having them be personalized to you, which in turn makes you more productive that combined with the AI enabled applications that are increasingly available, we think has a significant effect on, positive effect on productivity as well as the protection as, Noel, went through, fabulously and in-depth. There's a lot of things now and going forward in the future that we believe AI PCs have specific advantages around protecting your data, partially because they run locally, and partially because there will be, an ever increasing ability of security based applications and Windows to protect the, the data that is on our PCs. So as Noah mentioned, there's, currently in the market in general and from Lenovo, a mix of PCs. And this is how we define them or separate them into three broad categories. There are certainly PCs that have been available in the last few years that, are eligible for Windows 11, may have come with it, or eligible for upgrade, which we would call just a a basic cloud AI PC. No NPU. Certainly an option. Can be upgraded to Windows 11, get a lot of those security benefits. And then there's sort of a middle class of some PCs that are still, still being sold new and some that are new, which are in the middle range. They have an NPU, but not necessarily one that's powerful enough to fully take advantage of the Copilot PC, experiences. And then when you get to what we consider to be the truly modern next level AI PC for full productivity, that would be, or is a number of different options that we have across our different series of ThinkPads, which I'll cover in a moment, and a number of different architectures from Qualcomm, Intel, and AMD. What they all have in common at this level is that they have NPUs, that are rated at greater than 40 TOPS in performance, which, of course, means that they are eligible for, the full Copilot plus PC experience and all the benefits, around that that Noel has, has described earlier. Just a brief overview of our portfolio for business, ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, I believe most people are familiar with, ThinkStation, our workstation offerings. The ThinkStations and the ThinkCentres, more the classic, or ThinkCenters, the classic desktops, ThinkStation, the workstations, ThinkPad, ThinkBook, and a number of other offerings down to it, including things for the Edge, and, visuals and monitors and, conference room systems as well. To just give a brief overview of our ThinkPad lineup here in somewhat of a order of an increase in capability, although depends on how you rate that. From e series, our basic entry, a step up to l series, a very well provisioned, very well, designed set of PCs, but with a more basic set of capabilities in our l series. Then we step up to our mainstream, our best seller around the world, the t series, performance, security, high portability, x series, very similar to the t, but in smaller form factors, our p series, which are our mobile workstations, and then our newest series, x nine, which was specifically built, and I'll talk a little bit more about them in the beginning, as a joint project over the course of about two and a half years with Intel. We surveyed, and worked with over 10,000 individuals around the world to really understand what they valued as far as their experiences, both in hardware and software in the PC and built an entirely new type of experience, both hardware and software, around that for the x nine, and then, of course, our x one series, our most advanced, thinnest, and lightest, ThinkPad series that we make. We have added an extra layer above and beyond our classic Think experience on the ThinkPad x nine series and the ThinkPad x one series that we call Aura Edition. And I mentioned that we had spent, about two and a half years working with Intel and over 10,000 individuals to really understand what they valued about their what were the truly meaningful experiences that they had with their PCs. And we're adding, an extra layer of experience, onto that in the form of this r edition. As far as how that relates with Copilot PC, these are full Copilot PCs with all of the benefits and the features that Noel mentioned, but they add an additional layer, oriented around, as I mentioned before, these personalized productive and protected, types of experiences and benefits that we view as so key for the modern era of AI PCs. And those take the form of a series of smart modes, which group experiences together in very logical ways. Sometimes to put your PC in a certain operating mode or just turn certain features on, historically, could take many different clicks to get to different areas. So based on that research, what we've done is group those things into a number of modes that make it very easy for end users, to turn off and on certain features around security, around conferencing, around, the power modes and a number of other things. SmartCare is an elevated, support experience, and then SmartShare is a very simple and amazingly easy way on either an Android or iOS iOS phone iOS phone to simply tap your phone, on the edge of your PC and share photos. Went through these, the smart modes, the quick access, and I'm gonna see if, we have a video here that will play. Let's go. Let's go. Alright. As I mentioned, our x x nine series, our x one series, the Aura Editions this year our full Copilot PCs, with an extra added layer of experiences for our and your end users. Now, of course, what is common across all of our ThinkPads is something that we have been known for for many decades, over thirty years, as a matter of fact, is the reliability and durability of our Think products. There's a core foundational thought process that goes in the engineering of our ThinkPads and our Think products, that is always striving to and I think accomplishing, the proper balance of the design and the usability of the products with the introduction of new technology and every generation, but also with this foundation of the reliability, the durability, the testing that go along with making ThinkPad, a 30 something, giving ThinkPad, I should say, a thirty two, thirty three year, track record of being, the best productivity focused notebook series in the world. ThinkCentre, also to mention that, is available a number of different form factors across different series. And just this year, we've introduced our first, Copilot plus desktop PC, the ThinkCentre Neo 50 q gen five, which is the world's first commercial AI PC, notebook that is powered by, the Snapdragon X processor. If you think back to what Noel went through on the pyramid slide that he had, there is certainly a layered approach, both conceptually and from a hardware software division, perspective of the way we have to approach security. And also mentioned, it is very much a partnership. So many things that Microsoft is doing at the OS level to secure that data and that experience for our users and employees, but also the things that we do, the below the OS things, these things that are built in around, self healing bios and the ability to secure that and to manage that and to monitor that through things like our firmware assurance, and then also the supply chain offerings that we have around supply chain assurance tracking the products, from the factory, to delivery and being able to verify that nothing has changed, during transit. So, again, a multilayered approach to, security in the modern world, both, at the OS level and below and through the supply chain of the products. Finishing up the conversation here about the total life cycle management of our PCs, and with potentially, some a lot of PCs being upgraded, in, to Windows 11. I just wanted to point out here that, something we've been doing for years and have a extensive practice around the world, at doing is asset recovery services, secure environmentally conscious recycling. We will do it not only for Lenovo PCs, but for other PCs, in a number of very custom ways that fit the needs of our customers. And, of course, always offering fair market value for those, those used PCs. A lot of sustainability benefits, sort of completes that circular economy from a total cost of ownership perspective, can help offset the cost for new technology, and it can it is done, very securely. So the security risks of getting rid of, old PCs is obviously something that we all need to be aware of. Secure transport, detailed reporting, and, this can all be done on-site, if our customers request, which is just one of the aspects of our larger offering of Lenovo's TrueScale device as a service. This can be as simple as paying for a PC over time. It can be as comprehensive as a long term contract, for everything around the PC, for not only the PC itself, but the services, the the ongoing life cycle services, the end of life services, and with, full reporting, and in EMEA, we are offering a, have a special offering, a forty two month, subscription to DAS services, for the price of three years or thirty six months, where nothing is, there's no payment required for the first six months. So building all that on top of what Noel said, fabulous story with modern AI PCs, Copilot+, and the improved security benefits, that come along with that, all available across an entire portfolio of products, that can be procured, managed, upgraded, and disposed of in very flexible ways all to fit the needs of your particular business. So thank you, Noel, and thank you, Willie, and I'll turn it back over to you, Willie. Thanks a lot, Kevin. Thanks for the detailed overview around, what to keep in mind in selecting, obviously, the the right hardware during the transition phase, especially when it comes to, AI and Copilot plus ready features, as well as all around the additional connected services Limogro can provide as you just mentioned, to scale offering rights our our promotion around device as a service, that could help, the customers here to transition even more smoothly. So with that, we are finished on our side, but, obviously, now it's open for you and we already selected in the back end some questions from the audiences. We also tried to match some similar questions together. Obviously, we will also we can cover all the questions that were asked, but we will come back to each of you with answers also separately in case we don't have, time to cover all the essential questions here. So let me go through the questions now, and, I just see one topic. I believe we just, we just covered as well to some extent. Mhmm. And that's maybe something I can cover myself. Is there a hardware list, upgrade, that's that the the customers know that the the those products are ready for Venus 11. We just told no, which is not very helpful. So on on that, in this case, I would just like to refer again to the tool, the VINIS 11 tool that we just mentioned. There's an online tool that makes it easier for you to transition to, the YPC. In this tool, you need to upload the key data, the your install based data. And then based on that, the tool is then, checking if, which products can be upgraded, right, by, by upgrading to a Venus 11 license and which PCs need to be refreshed with a modern PC because some of the configuration might not be ready for for an upgrade. So this tool is free for you free to use for you. We will share that also afterwards with all the all the participants. Also important to note that this tool any content that you're uploading there will not be shared with Lenovo and also not Microsoft, so that stays in the tool. It's just an advice tool for you to make the upgrade even easier. Let's move to another question, and that's, I believe, maybe something more for let me just check. Let me switch them switch to the other part. That might be more for Kevin, maybe. What is the difference between a Copilot Plus PC and then our and and a so called our edition PC that Lenovo launched recently? Okay. I'll sort of go through our hierarchy. All PCs that contain those five elements that I mentioned, things that are capable of running a local personal intelligent agent using a personalized knowledge base, using heterogeneous computing with the NPU that can take advantage of open application of, or open ecosystem of AI applications and that provides significant privacy and security protections or what we call an AIPC. Within that, we have a subset of AI PCs, which have processors or NPUs, specifically, that have over 40 TOPS of performance. Those are Copilot plus PCs. Within that, we have a further subset, in the case of ThinkPad with x nine and x one, which are have those, additional features, the smart modes, the smart care, and the smart share. So you can sort of think of it as a concentric set of circles. We've got the larger set of AI PCs. Within AI PCs, we have an even higher performance subset of AI PCs that are Copilot plus PCs. And then within the realm of Copilot plus PCs, we have a, l a smaller number of, systems that also are aura edition based that add on to the Copilot Plus experiences. So, you know, call it a a good, better, best sort of strategy, that help differentiate the experience, but always make sure that we've got all of the benefits, security, manageability, everything else that comes along with, with Copilot p plus PCs. So, Kevin, maybe a question that is slightly connected to to to this topic, not necessarily our PCs, but Copilot plus. Maybe both of you can answer that. How is the energy saving with Copilot Plus PCs over conventional PCs notebooks that are performing commercial available AI tasks? Is there any big difference? What can you say something specifically on that, or does it really depend on each, each specific PC? I'll ask you from a hardware perspective. It it does very much depend on the individual use case. But probably one of the biggest advantages we see from an architectural standpoint is that when you look at the types of math and calculations that are necessary to do, AI related calculations, there are some things that are highly suited to GPUs, which do tend to take a lot of power, a lot of power usage. But as we move to a more NPU oriented type of world, NPUs are a very different architecture than GPUs or CPUs that are most very specifically designed for the type of calculations involved in fast local on machine AI PC Mhmm. Or AI, activities. So having that done locally by processors that are specifically optimized for those types of calculations, one, can save power locally. But also when it's done locally, it saves the larger view of power versus having to send that query or that job off to a remote data center in the cloud having the, the the processing done there and then have that come back. So we'll see, power savings both locally and overall, as we move to a world of more NPU optimized, applications. Thanks a lot, Kevin. Cool. Maybe a question more to for now and then, the business level transition. What are the first pillars you would recommend to address to build a strong security posture for an organization? I will take it both ways in a way from from two angles. I think the two main things to look at as we look at our security posture is number one, devices and the the the security posture around end devices end so endpoint devices, I should say. So literally making sure that every device is secure, is well patched, well managed, and and, of course, upgraded to Windows 11 before 10/14/2025. So from an endpoint perspective, that that's critical. And the second one, it's, identity, making sure that, you know, there are ways to protect employees from organizations, that are using those devices more securely. And as we discussed before, a way to do that is to leverage biometrics including to think about devices, making sure the organizations are running multifactor authenticator, leveraging other cloud tools, available with Microsoft 365. For example, Defender for Endpoint or or for Defender for identity in this case or entry ID that will help to secure the identity posture of the employees as well. So once you cover identity and device and you have a really strong security posture there, you're in a good you're in a good spot. Right? So right now, I think job number one is making sure that there's a plan in place to get an inventory of the devices available, understand how many of those need to be upgraded because they are not eligible to be upgraded to Windows 11 and therefore act as fast as you can to be secure there. Okay. Thanks a lot. Security was a big topic in our questions. There were also similar related question around security more for Kevin in that case. Kevin, how are Microsoft and Lenovo collaborating to ensure endpoint security, without compromising user experience or device performance? So we'll take you on that. Sure. I I think I touched on that, but it it is very much a partnership. There are things that, obviously, Microsoft does at the operating system level and at the enterprise level to secure, the data and the operation of the PC. But there's a a laundry list of things that we have to do on the hardware side. You know, it interacts the the the camera architecture, the local authentication options that we have around, the fingerprint readers, facial recognition, you know, smart cards that we build in. So there's the the the sort of user interface level of the things that we do, both on our own and to make sure that the end users can take advantage of the features that that Microsoft built in the Windows. But then below the operating system, the way that we architect the, our think, security engine chip, the the foundational root of trust, the firmware, the self healing firmware, the ability to recover from problems, errors, attacks, and the ability to, with additional services, verify that that is secure and intact, and attest to the fact that that firmware is indeed, secure and unchanged. And then I think I also mentioned that the options that we have on the the supply chain, the ability to take essentially a fingerprint of every system as a service, when it leaves our factory, and then giving our customers the ability to verify that system wide hardware and software fingerprint once it arrives at their loading dock at their destination to make sure and and ensure and verify that the, product wasn't tampered with during transit in the supply chain. So I think when you look at the total coverage of all of those things, it is, extremely broad and covers the overall majority of of all the attack vectors that we have to deal with in, in modern day security. Thanks a lot, Kevin. Maybe a quick last question, maybe that could be Narelle, answering. What's the business case? So, you know, there are several questions also around costs involved in this transition phase, right, because it needs upgrading either to a new license or even a new PC. And with in the current situation, many companies, obviously, it's a budget concern as well. What's the business case for investing in modern secure devices now, especially in the face of tightening budgets in your view? I mean, the business case is relatively straightforward. You you cannot you simply cannot afford to to have a an operating system that is unpatched and unsecured, right, and and that is not receiving security updates. That is, number one, not compliant to to the NIS two principles, and therefore, the organization in itself could get into financial challenges and and and and complications. But also, you expose not only your company, but also you expose your customers to to these to these scenarios. And so the business case is relatively straightforward. I think the interesting thing to consider from my perspective is making sure that you have a good understanding and you're working closely with your either your Lenovo account manager or your channel partner to to understand more than, you know, if you need to migrate yes or no because the answer is yes. But, really, what's the best way but what's the best way into incorporate a strong mix of Windows 11 devices plus Copilot plus PCs? Not everything is Microsoft Copilot plus PC, but I think it would make your investment future you're gonna make your investments today future proof for for the next five, six years. If you are incorporating part part of your devices or part of your device float, it's it's a component plus capable for those business scenarios that require that. I think that that will make your investment future proof. Thanks, Nayan. We're at the end of the hour.
